The school is seen as an object of growth and development in the human society. To this end, the colonial emancipation was welcomed by every Nigerian citizen, the government and non-governmental organizations. This study was undertaken to identify the factors of influence which the school has on the socio-cultural environment in Nigeria. The influence of school on socio-cultural environment [ISSE] questionnaire was drawn. It contained 25 items under five sub-headings. The questionnaire was administered to 306 university undergraduates in five universities in Nigeria and 310 parents from school environments. The data were collected and analyzed using chi-square and t-test statistical analyses. The results showed that there are both negative and positive influences of school on their immediate communities. It was observed that there are variations in the responses of the respondents according to sex and socio-cultural background especially on the issue of cultural influence.
