Effective School Management: Synthesis of Research Studies in Greek Schools

The present paper will attempt to identify research efforts that have been conducted on effective school management in the Greek schools. In the international literature the effective management in schools captures the attention of many scholars in an effort to improve the schools by developing an open climate and upgrade the quality of the educational system. The objective of this paper is to identify how researchers approach the topic in the Greek schools in Greece and Cyprus. Do scholars in the Greek schools place a serious effort on school managements? Is school management in Greek educational system able to provide initiatives and innovations that can lead to better schooling? Is the Greek educational system an alive organization that can improve itself? Is the school principal leader or the person that process the policy of the Ministry of Education? What is the philosophy behind school administration in Cyprus and in Greek? Those are some of the questions that the present paper will address. The researchers identified the research efforts that have been made in the Greek schools for the last 20-30 years and they implement meta-analysis in order to provide answers to the research questions.
