Dear friends and colleagues,

 

It is with great pleasure that the Cyprus Dietetic & Nutrition Association announces it’s 7th International Conference ‘Diet therapy: Nutrition throughout the field of healthcare’. The conference will take place on the 29 November - 2 December, 2012 at Hilton Park Hotel in Nicosia. This year the conference will commence on the 29th of November in the afternoon with a panel for the public with emphasis on Heart problems and nutrition. The exhibition will also be open to the public on that day in the afternoon.

 

The conference is held under the auspices and support of the Ministry of Health, the Cyprus Registration Board for Food Scientists, Food Technologists and Dieticians and the European Federation of the Association of Dietitians (EFAD). For the first time the Cyprus Dietetic & Nutrition Association welcomes the participation of the Atherosclerosis Society of Northern Greece. Our goal is to ensure the complete success of our upcoming international conference.

 

The organizing and scientific committee of the conference schedules the scientific program so as to offer variety and diversity of subjects in order to emphasize the role of the dietitian in the whole spectrum of health and community and the necessity to be considered an indispensable member of the health care team and the health care providers. Our theme this year is ‘Diet Therapy or Medical Nutrition Therapy(MNT)’. MNT is an essential component of comprehensive health care. Individuals with a variety of conditions and illnesses can improve their health and quality of life by receiving medical nutrition therapy. During an MNT intervention, dietitians counsel clients on behavioural and lifestyle changes required to impact long-term eating habits and health. Medical Nutrition Therapy includes: Performing a comprehensive nutrition assessment; Determining the nutrition diagnosis; Planning and implementing a nutrition intervention using evidence based nutrition practice guidelines; Monitoring and evaluating an individual’s progress over subsequent visits with the dietitian.

 

The three day conference covers subjects by an international and local faculty of experts. The subjects have been selected to give a broad and in depth overview of a number of contemporary and traditional topics in dietetics and nutrition. The conference is addressed not only to dietetic/nutrition professionals but also to physicians, trainees, nurses, and other health professionals.

 

The conference will offer CME/CPE hours.
