Dear Colleagues,

It is an honour and a great pleasure to welcome you to Cyprus for the XVIII Annual Meeting of ICOMON (International Committee of Money and Banking Museums). The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation is organising the 2011 annual meeting, which begins on the 10th of October and ends on the 13th.

Per the objectives decided upon in 1994, ICOMON meetings provide a common board where numismatic museum professionals can meet to discuss and exchange ideas as they pertain to museology.

The theme of the XVIII Meeting is "Money Museums Communicating with the Public". This theme was chosen to challenge participants to consider and elaborate upon this crucial issue as it pertains to exhibitions, activities and marketing campaigns. We are convinced your active participation will contribute to a constructive and successful meeting.

We look forward to welcoming each and every one of you to Cyprus, an island that has been a crossroads for civilisations and cultures for more than seven millennia. We hope you'll enjoy both the remnants of our ancient Greek civilisation and the modern hospitality and rich cultural traditions Cyprus offers her guests.
